In 1972 the Japanese engineers of Honda decided to pour all the technology and the mechanical complexity of the big "Four" on small-displacement engines. They demonstrate that the reliability and robustness of a motor, not directly proportional to the amount of material used to build them. Also they showed that an engine produced in large series, can turn very high speeds without vibrate or be short-lived.
